Isn't it
beautiful?
This plate
was (and remains as far as we know) the first known example of this fabulous design, when
originally reported to us in 2007 by Ellen and Keith Richardson.
It shimmers in
the typically magnificent marigold that makes Inwald's Carnival so sought after. The stylised floral design is deeply moulded on the underside of the
item.
This
splendid, scalloped edge plate (approx 10 inches in diameter), owned by Ellen and Keith
Richardson, was found in Sweden. As you can see from the Inwald catalogue illustration
below (circa 1928) the pattern was made in a variety of shapes. Others (not illustrated)
include dressing table set pieces and table set items. No name was given to this design in any
catalogue that we have studied, thus Ellen and Keith named it, as they are the first to show the
world an example in Carnival Glass.
Sincere thanks to the Richardsons for allowing us to report this
splendid discovery.
